Best golf clubs in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales

Royal County Down Golf Club

We’ve culled years of research by the UK’s top golf periodicals and golf writers to assemble a guide to the Best Golf Clubs in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. With over 3,000 golf courses in the UK, we’ve done the heavy lifting to find only the best golf courses you can play. The guide includes 147 golf clubs, private, yet open for public play, as is usually the case in the United Kingdom. Our handy guide provides a map of the UK, which you can maneuver around with our Google Maps app to find the golf clubs nearest to your destination. We also provide brief descriptions of the golf courses, maps, photos, and direct contact information to the club and website.

While the list includes a generous variety of parkland, heathland, and links golf courses, the more notable golf courses in the UK are of the links variety. St. Andrews, Scotland is well known as the home of golf, but the United Kingdom in general is well known as the home of links golf. All of the courses have sea views, and there’s no two are alike. Some are routed through massive sand dunes and elevation change, others with only subtle ripples in the fairways. There are perhaps 250 true links in the world, a good majority of which are in the UK,  all worthy of a look if you’re in the area.

Enjoy traveling more to the United Kingdom this summer, by playing golf at some of the best Golf Clubs in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
